Clothes Washer and Dishwasher
- To conserve your water pressure and temperature, run your clothes washer and dishwasher at night.
- Check all hose bibs for signs of instability such as rust, leaks, etc.
Garbage Disposal
- DO NOT put hard food such as bones, celery, carrots and potato peals because they can clog your drain.
- Pour cold water down your drain 15 seconds before and after you use your garbage disposal.
- Turn on your garbage disposal before adding food.
Drains
- Avoid pouring cooking oil and fat down your drain. They will clog your drain as they harden.
- Include strainers to prevent debris from clogging your drain.
Toilets
- DO NOT flush cotton balls, sanitary products, hair, ect. down your toilet. These items cause most clogs.
- If your toilet does not flush properly it may simply need a small part to be replaced.
Water Heater
- The temperature setting on your water heater should not be higher than 120 degrees. This saves energy and prevents scalding.
- The first four numbers on your water heater represents the date it was built. We recommend getting a new one every 15 years.
- To increase the life of your water heater you can flush it out once a year. It also helps you save on your gas bill. (Carefully drain the water from your water heater to flush out corrosion causing sediments.)
- A rusty tank could be a sign of problems with your heater.
